My first triptych is called "Same Stem, Different Stories". My idea was by each of my flowers being placed on the same stem, and held the same way, but each flower was different. Symbolizing different stages of life or emotions (red being angry, yellow happy, and blue sad). I think I successfully because by putting all three photos together it created harmony, having the same background and hand position. I used texture by the background being textured, adding interest, and by having each panel being even, creating a sense of balance. I used background, by having a textured, interesting background instead of a plain one.
My second triptych is called "Leaving the Frame". My idea was placing my subject inside, outside but still near, then back turned to it; representing leaving a place, but still being connected to it (walking away from something small to step into something bigger, but staying connected). I think this triptych was successful because each photo most likely wouldn't stand well alone, but putting them all together it makes them intriguing. In this triptych I used colour, as the shed stands out due to its vibrant colour, and emphasis as the sheds in the middle of each frame. I used leading lines, as the shed has lines leading towards my subject.
My third triptych is called "Tuning out, but tuning in", and my idea behind this one was showing the progression of putting Airpods in to escape reality. I think this triptych was successful because like the shed one I don't think each photo could stand alone, but can all together. I used texture by using macro mode to capture the texture of the airpods and subject, to add interest; and rhythm as my photos create a sequence, telling a story. I used filling the frame by not leaving too much empty space, to emphasis my subjects.
When editing my photos, since I took so many, I had to carefully pick which ones to use and then crop and place them until I was satisfied.
I think I'm pretty satisfied with my editing skills. I think one weakness of my is choosing which photos to use, and one strength is placing each photo, and cropping them.
If I were to redo the project I think I would spend less time on triptych ideas I didn't like, and spend more time on the triptychs ideas that interested me (taking more photos/perfecting them).
One area of photography I'm improving on is my work habit, I think I've improved on staying on task and being more productive than grade 9 photography.
